Land Rover Premiership Cup

Last season saw the start of The Land Rover Premiership Cup, the first tournament of its kind to be officiated by Premier Rugby and run in conjunction with all 12 Premiership clubs across the country. After the success of its inaugural year, in which over 7,000 aspiring young players took part in festivals all over the country, we are looking forward to seeing more young stars battling it out for a place in the finals this year.
Each Guinness Premiership Club will host a rugby festival during the 2009/10 season with age group winners from each of the 12 regional festivals being crowned Land Rover Premiership Cup champions. Professional players from the Guinness Premiership clubs will attend the regional festivals, presenting trophies and signing autographs.
The Land Rover Premiership Cup is open to under-11 and under-12 rugby teams. Although the continuum allows for combined age groups where there are small numbers, only genuine under-11 and under-12 teams will be allowed into this competition. However consideration will be given to official RFU dispensation, where held
Under 11s: The game will be played between teams of 12 players, five of whom will be forwards and form the scrum, with the remaining players forming the backs. Squads will consist of 20 players.
Under 12s: The game will be played between teams of 13 players, six of whom will be forwards and form the scrum, with the remaining players forming the backs. Squads will consist of 20 players
The next Land Rover Premiership Cup to be held at Northampton Saints will be on the 13th February 2010 for the under-11s. The Saints also hold pre-match tournaments for teams from under-7s up to under-16s throughout the season.
