England Sevens Squad Reach Quarter-Finals In Brisbane
The England Sevens side reached the last eight in the fourth leg of the IRB World Sevens Series in Brisbane at the weekend.
Pool wins against Canada and Tonga meant that the defeat to South Africa did not affect their progress to the quarter-finals where they met the hosts Australia. The Wallabies, who included rugby league converts Wendell Sailor and Matt Rogers in their line-up, eventually beat England 29-12 and went on to win the final crushing New Zealand by 28-0.
England went on to the semi-final of the plate competition where they lost out to Fiji 19-12 in sudden death extra time.
The squad now travel to Wellington for the fifth leg of the series on February 8 and 9.
