Northampton Saints centre John Leslie has been left out of the Scotland squad that will play Italy next weekend. The New Zealand-born Scot was withdrawn from last weekend's clash against England after he suffered a calf injury in Saints' game against Harlequins. The 32-year-old will be fitness tested for Saturday's league nmatch against Sale Sharks, but is expected to be involved. London Wasps wing Kenny Logan has been recalled by Scotland for Glasgow wing Jon Steel. Steel had only been brought into that squad as cover for Leslie, and the make-up of the squad leaves questions to be asked as to whether Duncan Hodge will retain his No 10 shirt, with Gregor Townsend still possibly starting for the supposedly injured Leslie. Budge Pountey, Tom Smith and Matt Stewart do, however, feature in the 24-man squad. Scotland will be hoping to record their first win of this season's Championship at the Stadio Flaminio, the scene of one of their most embarrassing recent upsets in February 2000, when the then reigning Five Nations champions were humbled 34-20 in Rome.
