Northampton Saints ticket office staff have broken all previous records for sales for an England A fixture. More than 5,000 tickets have been sold in advance for next Friday's A international clash between England and Ireland, which could see rugby league convert and Gloucester fly-half/centre Henry Paul make his first run-out at Franklin's Gardens. Northampton Saints' efforts in securing this fixture is confirmation of Franklin's Gardens' growing reputation as England's top rugby venue after Twickenham. Allan Robson, Northampton Saints' commercial director, said: "The RFU received many bids to stage this game and we were delighted to be selected. "It not only justifies our investment in the Tetley's Stand and South Stand, but I also see it as a compliment to our staff, who have a reputation for running match days very efficiently." Mr Robson added: "We are also in the final throes of negotiation with European Rugby Cup Ltd to host the Parker Pen Shield semi-final between Gloucester and Sale on the weekend of April 27 and 28." Tickets are still available for Friday night's game, which will kick-off at 8pm with the bars and gates opening at 5.30pm. Tickets are from £5 for juniors and concessions, and £10 for adults. Limited corporate hospitality is also available at £45 plus VAT and for those who would like to capture the Celtic spirit of the game, Irish band Five Go Lashing will play their final gig after the match in the Rodber Suite. For England A v Ireland A tickets, call 01604 581000 or log onto the club's website at www.northamptonsiants.co.uk.
