Northampton Saints and former All Black forward Andrew Blowers has praised the 'fantastic' support the side were given by fans at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday.
Saints had stormed to a 27-0 lead by half-time, but were reduced to 14 men in the second half after Mark Robinson was shown a red card, and played 10 minutes with 13 when Mark Tucker was sin-binned.
Blowers said: "It was tough out there in the second half, but the fantastic support we received from the fans really helped. Supporters sometimes ask whether we can hear the noise out on the pitch, and whether is has any effect.
"I can tell you, we would have heard the noise if we had been playing down at Gloucester and the crowd had still been here - and it really gives us a boost to know we've got all these fantastic people supporting us when our backs are against the wall.
"Saturday's support was some of the best I've had anywhere - the fans can be really proud of themselves, and give themselves a pat on the back. They played a big part in our win on Saturday.
"I think that was the first time I've ever heard the Gloucester fans drowned out. After the game we were obviously exhausted and everyone had picked up a few knocks, but we all agreed we wanted to go back out and show our appreciation."
Blowers was himself given a yellow card in second-half injury time, but left the pitch to an unprecedented standing ovation.
