Saints' head coach Wayne Smith and commercial director Allan Robson have put their heads together to help Saints take the first step to a third Twickenham visit in three years.
Saints play top of the table Bath in the sixth round of the Powergen Cup at the Rec on Saturday 15 November and want to take 1,000 fans to Somerset to rally the team to victory, and have decided to slash prices of travelling by their private charter train to help supporters make the trip.
"If we can get 1,000 of our fans down to Bath to give us the level of support we had at Cardiff, Bath and Oxford in the cups last season then we have to improve our chances of a win" said Smith. "Bath are top of the Premiership on merit but Saints are just behind them in second place and we are aiming for a better result in the cup than the 6-24 defeat we suffered in the league back in September".
Saints have chartered their own train direct from Northampton to Bath as they did for last season's Heineken Cup victory against Cardiff and are heavily subsidising the cost to encourage fans to make the trip. Allan Robson, Saints' commercial director, said: "We can only get to Twickenham if we win this game against Bath and Wayne said that the crowd played a massive part in the win against Gloucester at the weekend. So we have decided to reduce the price of seats on our train to just £10 standard and £20 first class to make sure that it is absolutely jam packed with fans who will support us all the way".
The charter train will leave Northampton station around 9.30 am and arrive back at approximately 8.30pm on Saturday 15 November. Train and match tickets are available on a first come first served basis from Saints' Ticket Office 9am to 5pm (Thursday to 7 p.m.), by telephone on 01604 581000 or 24 hours a day on the internet www.northamptonsaints.co.uk People who have already purchased at the higher price will be receiving a refund through the post shortly. |
