Northampton Saints coaching management have been in discussion with the RFU regarding the recent England squad announcment.
The current count of Northampton Saints players in the England squad is three compared to Leicester Tigers' two. However, Saints have withdrawn Mark Robinson from the New Zealand Barbarians squad whereas Leicester's Daryl Gibson is still expected to play for the Baa-baas meaning each club will lose three players each.
Leicester will also be unable to field Lewis Moody, who has had to withdraw from the England squad due to injury and will not be permitted to play for Leicester even he makes a sudden recovery.
The England squad news announced today was: The following players have come into the squad:
Ben Cohen, Northampton Saints Martin Corry, Leicester Tigers Matt Stevens, Bath Trevor Woodman, Gloucester
The following players will not be in the squad due to injury:
Iain Balshaw, Bath Lewis Moody, Leicester Tigers Phil Vickery, Gloucester Mike Worsley, NEC Harlequins
As a consequence, Richard Hill of Saracens will captain the England XV for the Zurich World Champions Challenge.
