Northampton Saints welcomed a new prop to their squad today.
Former Tonga captain Tevita Taumoepeau arrived in the country this morning and has been brought in as a direct replacement for the injured Renaud Peillard.
Operations director John Steele said: "The neck injury sustained by Renaud earlier this season meant we needed to find another prop. Tevita has been brought in on a short-term contract until the end of the season."
Taumoepeau, who weighs in at nearly 18 stone and stands six feet tall, plays at tight head. He has played 19 times for his country but missed out on selection for the World Cup. Taumoepeau has played Super 12s rugby for both Waikato Cheifs and Auckland Blues, and NPC club rugby for North Harbour - Matt Lord's former club.
He will begin training with the squad next week and will be available for selection for Saints' league game against Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park on Sunday, December 28.
