Wave a flag for Saints
The black, green and gold brigade in Toulouse in 2003
An appeal has been made to all the 1,000 supporters travelling to France this weekend to bring with them a Northampton Saints flag to help create a home from home atmosphere at the Stade Ernest Wallon.
Northampton Saints coaches have asked all the supporters that are travelling to France this weekend to bring a flag with them to help overshadow the sea of black and red that is produced by the Toulouse supporters.

Some fans will remember the small black and red balloons that so effectively created a wall of Toulouse's colours in the 2003 Heineken Cup quarter-final. The team would like to be able to identify their 1,000-strong support and feel flags would be the best option.

Team manager Lennie Newman said: "If every supporter brings a flag on Saturday, it would go a long way to stamping the Saints mark on the Stade Ernest Wallon. If they have not got a flag, then anything else that is black, green and gold."

Newman has also made a plea for any old home shirts. The club intends to dress up the players' area with framed home shirts, and whereas shirts from recent years have been easy to come by, there is real lack of shirts from earlier eras.

He said: "We have hit a wall with some of the really old shirts and we would love to get as many home shirts as we can to decorate the players' room. If you can help, please email me on lennienewman@northamptonsaints.co.uk."

Saints Heineken Cup pool three game against Toulouse kicks off at 4pm local time on Saturday and is being shown live on Sky Sports.
