Lewitt crosses over to Saints from rugby neighbours Bedford Blues
Ben Lewitt on his way from Bedford to Franklin's Gardens
Northampton Saints have signed flanker Ben Lewitt from their rugby neighbours Bedford Blues. He, however, is considered much too young to play in the Northampton/Bedford Legends team that will play in a charity game at Goldington Road on Sunday. Please see the rest of the news story for more details on Ben and Sunday's charity game.

The 25-year-old, who has also played for Leicester Tigers, Orrell and both England’s sevens and student teams, will join Northampton Saints for pre-season training in the summer.

Head coach Budge Pountney said: “Ben has performed brilliantly this year for Bedford Blues and we are very pleased he has decided to join us here at the Saints. He will make an immediate impact in the way he can carry the ball and his defensive capabilities are as you would expect of a back-rower.”

On Sunday, Bedford Blues will host the annual end of season Bruce Willey Memorial Game at Goldington Road. The game is in memory of the former president of the Blues and this year features an England Legends side v a Combined Bedford/Northampton Legends team.

Among the former Saints greats playing on Sunday are: Dave Elkington, Justin Cassell, Simon Foale, Rob MacNaughton, Martin Hynes, Frank Packman, Harvey Thorneycroft, Lennie Newman, Phil Pask and Gary Pearce.

Kick-off is at 2pm and entry is free.
