Saints Open New Season at Leicester
last seasons fixture
Northampton Saints will kick-off the 2005/06 season in the Guinness Premiership against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road on Saturday 3rd September.  In a testing start to the season Saints will then travel to The Recreation Ground the following week to take on Powergen Cup finalists Bath
Saints’ first game to be played at Franklin’s Gardens will be against Newcastle Falcons on 17th September in a potential clash of fly-half giants Carlos Spencer and Johnny Wilkinson.

Premiership champions, Wasps, will be Saints’ next opponents at Franklin’s Gardens with a 12.30 p.m. kick-off to accommodate the England –v- Australia international at Twickenham which will be shown on bars around the ground.

Saints festive season match will be against Premiership newcomers on New Years Day.

Saints full Guinness Premiership fixture list follows although away games and kick-off times are subject to confirmation.

Commercial Director, Allan Robson, said: “No matter which way you look at the fixture list next season is going to be the most competitive of them all and we could not have expected two such difficult openers away to Leicester and Bath.  Let’s hope that our new signings will have settled in by then”.

Saints enjoyed 11 sell-out games and an average attendance of 12,000 at Franklin’s Gardens last season.  Work is currently underway to extend the South Stand increasing stadium capacity to 13,600 for the 2005/06 season.  Season ticket invitations will be sent to supporters next week
