The black leather rugby boots are embroidered with the name ‘Cohen’ on the toe, the number ‘11’ on the back and the England flag on the tongue. Made by Adidas, the boots also sport the maker’s trademark three white stripes down the sides.
Northampton Borough Council museum shoe expert Rebecca Shawcross said: “Ben Cohen is a local hero and we are absolutely thrilled to display his boots at the museum."
Cohen said: “When the museum asked whether I would be prepared to give them a pair of my boots, I was more than glad to. I am Northampton born and bred and I am honoured that a pair of my boots are part of the shoe and boot collection in my home town.”
Ben Cohen’s boots will be on display from today until the end of the month.
The Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 2pm to 5pm. Admission is free.
