Pat Barnard due to arrive next week

The last piece of the Northampton Saints squad jigsaw will arrive to start training next weekend. Prop Pat Barnard has been able to join the squad until now due to his involvement in the Currie Cup with South Africa's Western Province. WP were knocked out of the cup in the semi-final stage by the eventual champions, the Cheetahs.

Barnard, who could qualify to play for England thanks to his English mother, will arrive at the weekend and will face the media next Tuesday.

Still only 24, the former IRB U21s Player of the Year, will add 18st 1lb and 6ft to the Saints pack.

Barnard played Super 12 rugby for the Stormers this season and lined up next to former Saints hooker Federico Mendez in the front row for Western Province.
