Vilk scores try against Uganda in Dubai

England stormed to a 48-0 victory over Uganda in the second of their pool stage matches in the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens today, including a first try of the tournament for Andy Vilk. Strong defence meant that England kept a clean sheet in their second game of the tournament, scoring eight tries. 

Johnny Hylton (Worcester Warriors) was the first to score, crossing within the opening minute followed by Ben Gollings and Mathew Tait whose tries took England to a 17-0 lead at half-time. 

England upped the pace in the second half bringing on Tom Varndell (Leicester Tigers) who was instrumental in helping Vilk (Northampton Saints) to score despite Varndell having his shirt pulled over his head at the time. Mathew Tait, of Newcastle Falcons, bagged himself two tries, Hylton got his second and Ben Foden (Sale Sharks), Varndell and Vilk all added to the score to secure England’s decisive victory.

England will face Australia in their final pool game.
