I, the coaches, and the team know we must deliver. We have to get back into a winning habit. What better Christmas present than a good win today and a repeat next week in France? It won’t be easy. Narbonne, like all French sides, will be physical and know their rugby. Our pack need to play as well as they did against Leicester last week and our three-quarters perhaps little better. We have all shared some pretty miserable weekends together. Let us hope today puts an end to our losing run.
This year is the club’s 125th anniversary and we are starting to put together a programme of events. Old players’ reunions, dinners, golf days and perhaps an extra game during the Six Nations period against Leicester. We hope to have a complete programme sorted out in time for the New Year’s Day game against Bristol. Tomorrow night is carol service, please come along if your can.
Martyn Thomas, the chairman of the RFU management board is here as our guest today. Martyn is the guest of former player Bob Taylor. Martyn is an influential figure in senior rugby circles and we hope he gets some idea of what life is like in the Guinness Premiership and Europe at premier club level.
It just leaves me to wish you all the compliments of the season, and a particularly happy New Year. Please keep the faith and watch the Saints climb the league table next year. There’s still all to play for.
