Clarke, aged 22, scored a try against his former club in Saints’ New Year’s Day game against Bristol Rugby. He was also a member of the England U21s team that won the grand slam in 2004.
Davies, also aged 22, was given a six-month trial by the club following the completion of his sports and leisure management degree at Loughborough University last year. He has repaid the faith the club showed in him by making 12 first team appearances this season and scoring three tries. Welsh-speaking Davies is currently out of action with a groin injury.

Clarke, born in Sheffield, has started 17 games this season – all at centre – and scored four tries. Clarke won Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2003/04 season for his appearances in what were his more familiar positions of wing and full-back.
Director of rugby Budge Pountney said: “Both these players have been through our Academy system which has enabled them to step up to the mark this season. They have both benefited from playing alongside more experienced players this year and I look forward to seeing them develop further. They are both extremely exciting players to watch as well as being reliable and hard-working.”
He added: “Jon has made the transition to centre extremely well. Injuries to our backline forced us to select JC at outside centre but he has flourished since then and has made the No 13 shirt his own.
“Rhodri has also played in a variety of position for Saints’ second team, the Wanderers, but has fitted in well at inside centre. He is a physical player with electric pace and we hope to see him back on the field soon.” |
