Pritchard arrives at a time when Saints have been struck with a long injury list, mostly among the backs. Centres Seamus Mallon and Geoff Appleford are out for the rest of the season with knee and shoulder injuries respectively. Wing Paul Diggin (knee) and centre Rhodri Davies groin) are also receiving treatment from the physio department, and Luke Myring has been battling with a long-term shoulder injury.
Pritchard will also be able to cover possible call-up absences during the Six Nations period.
Director of rugby Budge Pountney said: “We are delighted to welcome James to Franklin’s Gardens for the rest of this season. He arrives at a time when the club has been hit with a serious injury list and he is able to cover the majority of positions we are struggling with. James is also a proven goal-kicker to support Bruce, Carlos and Robbie.”
Pritchard has already played rugby in this country for Bedford and Plymouth, as well as Perpignan in France. |
