Budgen called up to Army rugby duty
Northampton Saints' prop Chris Budgen will leave for South Africa tomorrow to represent the Army’s rugby team. He will attend the Army’s rugby training camp in Cape Town for 10 days. The trip means he will not be available for selection for Saints’ next GUINNESS PREMIERSHIP game against Newcastle Falcons on Sunday, March 26, but will return on Tuesday, March 28, ahead of the European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Worcester Warriors on April 1.

Director of rugby Budge Pountney said: “It is very important that Chris attends this training camp as we are fully committed to supporting the Army and Chris’s time with them.”

Budgen said: “Although it is not ideal to be away from the club, it will give me a break from the tense week in week out league games and enable me to have some fun with the boys and do some really good training so that I can come back fresh for the Worcester game.”
