Howard signs up for another two years
Northampton Saints scrum-half Johnny Howard has opted to remain at Franklin’s Gardens until the end of the 2007/08 season by signing a new two-year contract. Howard, who is one of the longest serving players in the current squad, made his debut against Sale in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Cup in 1998 and has racked up 72 appearances and six tries since then – including one from the wing against Bristol in January.

The 25-year-old, who joined Saints Academy from Aylesbury RFC, has learned his trade alongside two of the best scrum-halves in the Premiership – former All Black Mark Robinson and previously, England’s most capped scrum-half Matt Dawson.

Director of rugby Budge Pountney said: “We are very pleased that Johnny has decided to commit himself to the club for a further two years. He is an integral player to the squad in what is a very competitive position and is very important in us moving forward as a team.”
