Beech receives late call-up to U19s world championships
Saints Acaemy prop Charlie Beech received a late call-up for the England U19s squad that flew out to Dubai yesterday. Beech was called up yesterday morning to join the players that wil take part in the IRB U19s World Championship. Beech had been a part of the Six Nations squad in February and March.

As England U19s flew off to Dubai, National Academy and England U19s coaches Nigel Redman and Damian McGrath were looking forward to taking their squad onto the next level and the rugby world stage.

Redman said: “It has been an enjoyable Six Nations and the players have developed well through the tournament. We are now into the third stage of our season and hoping that the work done prior to and during our Six Nations campaign will come good. We also see this as a time to develop further this young squad of players, who can’t wait to get out there and get started.”

Based on their fourth place position last season in Durban, England have been seeded in division A, pool D, together with France and Samoa. On Wednesday, April 5, they take on Ireland U19s, followed by Argentina U19s on Sunday, April 9, and current world champions South Africa U19s on Thursday, April 13. The semi-finals are on Monday, April 17, and the final on Friday, April 21. The England v Ireland, England v South Africa match, semis and final will be screened live on Sky.

Beech, who started his rugby at Biggleswade at the age of seven and played for England U16s and U18s and puts starting for Saints last October among his top rugby moments, said: “It’s very exciting to have this chance to be tested against the best in the world at my age level.

“We have all worked hard to deserve our places and we are really grateful to Nigel and Damien for helping us develop as players and I am particularly grateful for the support I have had from Northampton Saints who have looked after me so well through the season.”
