Last week we failed to get our game moving into top gear and the players have highlighted that themselves and are desperate to get the pace of their game up to speed.
Bath come here from the different side of the emotional spectrum with a semi-final in Heineken Cup against Biarritz looming. They caused quite an upset with their defeat of Leicester at the weekend and deservedly won even though they escaped further embarrassment with the second yellow card to their prop when they were in bit of trouble with the scrum. They will definitely come here with a spring in their step after that win and we have to make sure that we approach this game with a good sense of physicality and ferocity to knock that spring out of their step. Mark my words, this will not be pretty but it will be compulsive viewing!
We now have one route into Europe and that is the league and we are lucky enough to have three of our last four remaining games at home and we have to make use of that advantage. Franklin’s Gardens is a place the Saints players love and opposition players love to hate. We are going to need our sixteenth man for this bruising encounter.
Today’s game will most definitely be won and lost in the forwards. Bath have very good pack but so do we, and I feel that this will be test match quality with the players on the field today, Don’t expect an easy inch to be given or taken by either set of forwards. Come on you Jimmies.
