Fox back in for local derby
Northampton Saints flanker Darren Fox has been selected in the starting line-up for tomorrow night’s GUINNESS PREMIERSHIP derby clash with Leicester Tigers, being shown live on Sky Sports.
Fox, who made his debut against Leicester at Franklin’s Gardens three seasons ago, has returned to the starting line-up after not even featuring in the 22 for last weekend’s 24-21 victory over Bath Rugby. Fox has started 13 games this season and has been a replacement for nine. He has also scored three tries in 2005/06.

The 25-year-old from Peterborough has replaced Sam Harding, who will start the game on the bench. Last week’s try-scorer Mark Easter misses out altogether.

Saints head coach Paul Grayson said: “At this stage, you need to get any advantage where you can get it. Foxy offers an advantage from the breakdown. Sam has been playing great for us with his attacking rugby, but I expect the breakdown to be a fiercely contested area. And Mark Easter was great for us last week and it is a tough one to swallow as it is in no way a reflection on his performance. It was just one of those tough calls I had to make.”

Fox said: “Leicester on Good Friday night in front of a sell-out crowd on TV is a game I am delighted to be involved in.

“These games are always physical. The Northampton v Leicester games always have a bit of spice to them and it will be something we will all be relishing, but they will be up for it as well.”

Grayson added: “I have played in a few derbies over the years. There are ramifications for the league for both of us, but all these things will be forgotten at 7.45pm tomorrow.”

In terms of trying to secure a play-off place, Grayson continued: “We are running out of games. There are only three to go with Leicester and Sale at home and Bristol away. We are hoping to pick up points along the way but so is everyone else.”

Tomorrow night’s sell-out game kicks-off at 7.45pm.
