Last chance first team appearance for Matt Grove
Departing Academy player Matt Grove may get his chance to play in a much yearned for first team appearance tomorrow following an injury to hooker Dan Richmond. Grove, whose move to Exeter Chiefs was announced last week, has been drafted onto the bench for the sell-out home game against Sale Sharks after Richmond broke down in training this morning with a knee injury.

Academy hooker Dylan Hartley is not available due to a back injury and prop Chris Budgen, who can also play at hooker, is playing in the Army v Navy game at Twickenham.

It will be the 23-year-old’s first appearance on a Saints teamsheet tomorrow and could result in him winning his official player’s tie if he gets on.

It would be an ideal culmination to a season that has seen Grove successfully recover from knee surgery but only in time to play in a few games for the Wanderers.

Academy director James Sinclair said: “Matt will bring real impact from the bench if he gets on and I am sure he will take the opportunity to show the supporters and his team-mates what a top player he is. Matt has been outstanding in the Wanderers games this year and deserves his chance.”

* Tickets for the Greatest Ever event will be on sale around the ground tomorrow - namely in the Village, ticket office and Rodber Suite.
