Myler to be drafted into European squad
Stephen Myler playing for Saints last weekend
Northampton Saints’ fly-half Stephen Myler is to be drafted into the club’s Heineken Cup squad in place of Kirk Dixon. Saints’ coaching staff included Dixon in the 38-man squad with a view to swapping him for another player at a later date in line with this season’s ERC rules. Dixon did sign to the club on a trial basis but then opted to return to rugby league.

On the back of last weekend’s man of the match-winning performance, Myler, who is also a goal-kicker, has been included in the squad for the remainder of the competition. Myler made just his second appearance in a Saints shirt last weekend after signing to the club from Salford City Reds.

Head coach Paul Grayson said: “Stephen thoroughly deserves to be included in the squad. He is an exciting player who has learned so much in the seven games of rugby union he has played so far. Stephen is also a player that is used to the big occasion having played in the Super League for the past four years. His maturity and experience will serve him well.”

Saints play Overmach Rugby Parma at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi at the later kick-off time of 2.30pm on Saturday. The team will be announced on Thursday.
