England will be hoping to retain their crown as Grand Slam winners but France will prove stern opposition as they will arrive as World Champions. Franklin’s Gardens has a tradition of successfully hosting extra games. All the home U21s Six Nations games were played here in 2004, following a successful Wildcard final and England A series. The club is also hosting the Travis Perkins Club v Country Challenge between Saints and Argentina in February next year. Saints chief executive Allan Robson said: “There are three key factors in the RFU granting representative fixtures. They need to be assured of a perfect match day operation with facilities commensurate with the stature of the game. They also need to be confident in having a good attendance for the game to ensure a good atmosphere for the teams and for the TV audience. And last, but not least, RFU seeks to defray all competition costs by striking a financial arrangement with the host venue. I am able to take a bullish view in expectation of the level of interest and support of the game brought to the doorstep of Saints enthusiastic and knowledgeable supporters.”
RFU tournament and competitions manager Terry Burwell said: “We are delighted to be returning to such a great and efficient venue. Northampton have a good track record of hosting representative fixtures and this game at Franklin's Gardens, following England’s two other home matches at Bath against Scotland (February 2) and Italy (February 9), promises to be another fantastic occasion in the championship.” Discount priced tickets are now available to Saints’ season ticket holders and members during a priority booking period that will last until Saturday, January 6, 2007. Seating is priced at £10, terrace £8 and junior tickets at £5. A family ticket (two adults & two juniors) is also available at £25. When the tickets go on general sale after Christmas, they will be priced at £12 seating, £10 terrace, £6 for juniors and £30 for a family ticket.
