With 20 minutes to go at the Recreation Ground Saints were facing a 19-point deficit and the prospect of leaving without any much-needed GUINNESS PREMIERSHIP points.
But two tries from Mark Robinson and Robbie Kydd - both converted by Matthieu Bourret - won Saints a bonus point and had the previously confident Bath crowd beginning to show nerves.
Grayson believes this fightback demonstrated Saints' mettle and stomach for the fight.
"We’ve gone away from the team who drift off in the second half," he said. "We showed fight and we showed composure and we crept our way back into it whereas two or three months ago we would have rolled over. We played simple rugby in the right parts of the field and scored two good tries.
"With two and a half minutes to go you don’t know whether to chance your arm out of your 22 or protect the bonus point you’ve won away from home.
"I was disappointed to lose but I’m pleased we got the point. It could be crucial." |
