Turnover and profits up at Northampton Saints
Northampton Saints Plc, the parent company of Northampton Rugby Football Club, has declared increased profits and a record turnover for the financial year ended 31 May 2007.

Net profit before tax increased by 33% to £283,251 after profits of £793,246 resulting from a land transaction, and despite costs of £571,593 relating to the restructuring of operations management and the coaching department. Turnover increased by 12.5% to a record £11,322,603.

Referring in his Chairman’s Statement to the club’s relegation from the Premiership last season, Keith Barwell declared: “I fully accept responsibility and apologise. I know some shareholders feel that the Board should concentrate more on playing results than financial results, believe me, it wasn’t for the lack of trying. However, the answer is not to ignore finances and I don’t apologise for our financial success. The trick will be to get them both right.”

Last season, Northampton Saints enjoyed the second highest attendances in the Premiership and are expected to set new attendance records for National League One throughout the coming season with over 7,200 supporters already signed up as season ticket holders.

The club’s season gets underway with a warm-up match against World Cup side Samoa at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday, August 19th, at 3 p.m.
