Sean Lamont has today been named The Famous Grouse Scotland Player of the Season.
The 30-times-capped, Perth-born back, pipped team-mates Chris Paterson, Simon Taylor and Kelly Brown to win the poll, which was determined by votes from the media at the conclusion of Scotland’s eight games.
“It’s a nice surprise and I feel honoured to be recognised in this way,” he said.
Lamont is the first out-and-out winger to win the award which was launched 11 years ago.

Tara Kildare, sponsorship manager for The Famous Grouse said: “Many congratulations to Sean who has had a great season for Scotland.
“His attacking style has contributed to him being the only wing to ever win The Famous Grouse Player of the Season and only the fourth back to win in the award’s history.”
Lamont has regained his try scoring form for both club and country. He scored against Australia in the autumn and France during the Six Nations and has crossed the line eight times for the Saints, most recently last Sunday against Bristol.
He follows fellow Saint Tom Smith onto the Scotland Player of the Season honours list.
