Northampton Saints’ duo Stephen Myler and Luke Myring have returned from injury to start Wednesday night’s historic Travis Perkins Club v Country Challenge against the Pumas. Myler has been out for six weeks with a knee injury and Myring had to be rested while he recovered from a back problem. They are part of a side selected by head coach Paul Grayson that gives many young players an opportunity to play in front of their home crowd.
The front-row also features former Bedford prop John Brooks, who has just returned from a stint with Taranaki, and is currently on trial with the club.
Hooker Matias Cortese will hope to make his debut for the club against his countrymen, while members of the Academy will also be hoping to make their mark and impress the coaches and Franklin’s Gardens’ faithful. More than 7,200 tickets have already been sold.
Grayson said today: “We are delighted to welcome back Stephen and Luke for this one-off game against such quality opposition as The Pumas. It will also give the rest of the side an opportunity to stretch their legs ahead of the business end of the season, while some of our senior squad players have been given a further week off ahead our next league game.”
Wednesday night’s game kicks-off at 8pm. It is also being shown live on Sky Sports.
