Northampton Saints will play Bristol Rugby on the weekend of March 24/25 after last weekend’s game had to be cancelled due to a water-logged pitch at the Memorial Stadium. The rain has caused further problems at Franklin’s Gardens too with next Monday’s Wanderers’ match moving to the back pitches to save the main pitch for the following Sunday’s Heineken Cup game against Biarritz.
However, this means this Guinness A League game against Leicester will have to kick-off at 2pm on January 15, as the floodlights are not as efficient as the ones in the stadium.
Chief executive Allan Robson said: “We know this will cause disappointment to some of our supporters who really enjoy coming to this A league derby. However, we have already postponed this game once and both sides are eager to play the fixture as soon as possible. We really do have to maintain the quality of the main pitch for the Heineken Cup televised game against Biarritz, especially in the wake of the two cancelled games last weekend.”
