Northampton Saints today announced that Sean Lamont has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2007/08 season.
Scotland winger Lamont, who started his first Saints game of the season last Saturday, suffered a serious injury to the ligaments in his right knee 17 minutes into the game against the Pertemps Bees. Following an MRI scan and referral to one of the country's top specialists, it has been confirmed that reconstructive surgery is required and Lamont will miss the remainder of the 2007/08 season. The Saints medical team are aiming for him to be available for pre-season training next summer.
Damien Browne has also been ruled out of action for the next few weeks. He ruptured a tendon in his left arm in the first half of the Wanderers’ Guinness ‘A’ League match against Newcastle last week. This has been surgically repaired and the second rower has commenced his rehabilitation with the Saints medical team. It is hoped that he will return to action early in the New Year.
