Look forward with positivity

Well, part of the job done then. Last Saturday was greeted with a massive sigh of relief from everyone connected with the club. On your behalf I would like to thank Jim, Dorian and Paul and all of the players on achieving promotion.
However let’s remember that it is only part of the job. Today’s game will be tough. Nottingham took us very close earlier in the season and they have their eyes firmly fixed on the runners-up spot. They are a very good team, as they proved in the semi-final of the EDF Energy National Trophy, only narrowly losing to Exeter down in the south west.

If we are going to perform at a half-way decent level in the Guinness Premiership next season we must learn to keep striving even when we are winning. I know the team want to finish the season unbeaten. For that to happen they will need to play well today.

So the challenge in the league is to keep our foot on the accelerator and win our four remaining games.

Just like last week our visitors today will want to spoil our party. A big welcome to them, their directors, committee and supporters.

Whatever happens today the Saints will of course win the league and the National League One trophy will be presented at our last home have of the season when we entertain Launceston. Make sure you are there!

In between then we have the little matter of the EDF Energy National Trophy final at Twickenham. The tickets are good value, offering three games in all. The first, the Intermediate Cup between Birkenhead Park and Chester, kicks off at 10am. At 12noon it is us versus Exeter and at 2:30pm Leicester v the Ospreys.

We have already sold well over 8,000 tickets plus those supporters who purchased their tickets directly from Twickenham. My wife and family are travelling down on one of the supporters’ coaches. Seats on the coaches cost just £15 and win or lose we’ll be having a drink later on in the Rodber Suite. Let’s have a party!

Finally, now we know where we are for next season, season ticket applications should be on your door mat very soon. Please return them as soon as possible. The best way to send a message to the team is to let them know we are all committed to next season.

Enjoy today’s game and let’s look forward to April and beyond with positive smiling faces.
