A taster and try out!
At the Northampton Town Show on the 24th and 25th of May, the Saints will be running taster sessions in the morning and a mini- tournament during the afternoon for all to try out and have a go! The final of the tournament will take place on the main pitch at Franklins Gardens! All you need to do is turn up! Touch Rugby is:
- A minimal contact sport.
- Fun, friendly and safe way to enjoy the summer with your mates and a great way to meet new people.
- Played by both men and women aged 16 and over.
- Open to all skill levels.
- The game emphasizes running, agility and ball handling skills such as passing and catching.
- A game is 40 minutes in duration (2 x 20 minute halves).
- You play on a field half the size of a normal rugby field.
- Teams consist of 6 players on the field at any one time with rolling substitutes.
- The aim is to get more touch downs (tries) than the opposition.
- This game is for everyone, social or serious, corporate or casual, amateur or professional.
- Touch Rugby is easy to learn and a great way to get in shape.

How does the summer league work?
Teams will compete in a league structure over a 10 week period (including 2 practice/seeding weeks), to battle it out for the winners’ trophy.

Squad size is unlimited, although it is recommended that they contain between 8-14 players. Only 6 players from each team can be on the field at one time.

The leagues are scheduled to start on Monday 2nd of June and will run through until Monday 4th of August when the Saints Touch Rugby Champions will be crowned. The winners will then have a chance to represent Northampton Saints in the National Final at the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham on Saturday 16th August. 

Also, the first 2 weeks of the league will be practice/seeding sessions, which gives a fantastic opportunity to gain an understanding of the rules, regulations and game play under the guidance of Saints staff. Furthermore all the referees will be fully qualified.

How do I get started?
All you need to get started is an interest in playing and be able to get a bunch of friends together. The sport is renowned for its social side and what better way to enjoy the summer sun than with a game of touch and a drink with friends.

How much is does it cost?
The cost to enter the league is £200 per squad. For a squad of 10 players this equals to only £20 per head.
