Skipper Bruce Reihana was an understandably happy man after Saturday's final National League One win over Launceston, a success that saw the Saints achieve an unprecedented undefeated league and cup season.
“We really wanted to finish it at home this year and to have a lovely fine day, a full stadium and to play some fantastic rugby was a good way to finish,” Reihana told TVNorthants after the game.
“I’ve tried to work hard and earn my jersey and my spot in this team. I was named captain, which I was very honoured to do so, and what you give, you get back. I’ve set my targets high and tried to achieve what we have had this year.
“I knew we could go unbeaten if we worked hard together, but there was a question mark at the start of the season. We stayed strong as a team with the same goals and targets. Over the year we got better and better. There’s no egos. Everyone’s fighting for the same cause and it showed out there against Launceston.”
