Over one thousand year six schoolchildren from across Northampton are descending on Franklin's Gardens today for a Festival of Sport as part of National School Sport Week.
The Festival of Sport has been organised by the Northampton School Sport Partnership (NSSP) to celebrate all that has been achieved in Physical Education and School Sport over the past year and to promote the NSSP. It also coincides with the children's last few weeks in their schools before they move up to secondary school in September.
The 1,000 children come from 27 schools and are taking part in eight sports, including Golf, Football, Games, Cricket, Tag Rugby, Volleyball, Martial Arts and Athletics. The Saints Study Centre is also hosting activities throughout the day.
There is more school sport coming up at the Gardens when the Travis Perkins Community Project comes to a climax with a Tag Rugby festival next Friday, July 11th.
