The Saints Under-16s and Under-18s had their first action of the season this afternoon against The Ospreys.
Both games were played at Franklin's Gardens and attracted a healthy crowd, many who had travelled from Wales. They were treated to two entertaining games.
The Under-16s opened proceedings and tries for lock Chris Albrow (2) and fly-half Johnny Morgan - who also kicked two conversions and a penalty - saw the Saints comfortably home by 22 points to six.
The spoils were shared in the Under-18s match at 13 points all. A Dan Brotherton try and Glyn Hughes conversion and penalty put the Saints 10-3 up at the break. But they should have been further ahead as several chances went begging. Hughes kicked another three-pointer in the second half but the home profligacy was punished by two Ospreys tries, the second of which was scored on the stroke of full-time and tied the scores.
