Club News Saints announce details of new Supporter Liaison Group

Northampton Saints has announced the details of the Saints Supporter Liaison Group, which is one of the new initiatives at Franklin's Gardens to further open discussion channels between the club's management and supporters.

Whereas the club's Season Ticket Holder Forums concentrate on the 'big picture', the Saints Supporter Liaison Group (SSLG) will focus on the day-to-day and match day operations at Franklin's Gardens, giving supporters the opportunity to discuss specific issues with members of the club's senior management.

The SSLG will be chaired by Ella Bevan from the board of directors, with Brian Facer (head of commercial operations) and Chris Wearmouth (communications manager) representing the club's management. The Saints Supporters Club will provide three representatives, as will, the longest-established of the online fan discussion forums.

There are also several spaces available for Season Ticket Holders to volunteer to join the SSLG. To do so complete a form which can be downloaded from the club's website or collected from the Franklin's Gardens reception and Saints Superstore. Forms will also be available at the Season Ticket Holder Forum on September 23rd.

The closing date for forms to be left at Franklin's Gardens is Friday, September 27th (the same day as the Saints' Aviva Premiership clash with Sale Sharks), with participants to be chosen at random the following Monday.

Both the Saints Supporters Club and are deciding their own representatives, with the club having no influence over how this process is conducted.

The first meeting of the SSLG will be in October, with three meetings scheduled per calendar year. It should be noted that the SSLG but is aimed at being a means whereby supporters can have their opinions heard in a face-to-face setting outside of match days.

Supporters will be able to set the agenda for the meetings, either by submitting direct questions and topics through the 'Get In Touch' form on the club's website or through the Saints Supporters Club and Minutes from SSLG meetings will be available within a few days of each meeting.

Ella Bevan believes that the SSLG can be a positive and pro-active discussion forum.

"We have been saying consistently for the past few months that we want constructive dialogue with our supporters, who after all make the Saints the great club that it is," she said.

"The Liaison Group is an important part of this process. Supporters have the ability to discuss things on their online forums and can post comments on individual stories on our website, but nothing beats getting around a table and chatting about things face-to-face.

"We want the Liaison Group to be a fair representation of the people who come in through the gates at Franklin's Gardens on a match day, and we want all supporters to be able to set the agenda for our discussions. It is therefore important that people use either the Supporters Group or ComeOnYouSaints to raise the issues they feel strongly about, and that the meetings themselves have transparent minutes and feedback.

"This is the first time that we have done anything like the SSLG, so I'm excited to get it up and running and see where it takes us!"
