Club News Post-match traffic management provided by Northants County Council
Northamptonshire County Council is providing post-match traffic management tomorrow afternoon to try and speed the exit of football and rugby supporters away from Sixfields and Franklin's Gardens.
The traffic management is designed to direct supporters away from Sixfields and Franklin's Gardens onto their chosen exit route as smoothly as possible.
If supporters are intending on driving in the general direction of J15A (whether south on the M1, towards Towcester, or onto the Northampton ring road towards the Hunsburys), they will be able to take advantage of a left-hand filter lane at the roundabout next to TGI Fridays, Sixfields. Vehicles will not have to give way to traffic coming down the hill on Upton Way.
Meanwhile supporters intending on travelling north (whether to J16, towards Duston/Harlestone/Kingsthorpe) will be directed through Sixfields to join the Weedon Road at the roundabout next to McDonald's. Again, there will be a left-hand filter lane, meaning that vehicles will not have to give way to traffic coming out of Northampton on Weedon Road.
To accommodate these measures there will be clearly defined lane closures on both Weedon Road and Upton Way.
The traffic management will be put in place approximately one hour before the end of the matches, and will remain in place for a maximum of three hours.
Site supervisors will monitor the traffic carefully and if the demand is drastically reduced before the three-hour window the traffic management will be reduced.
The Saints car parks open at 11am on Edgar Mobbs Way, with Northampton Borough Council also opening the Claret Car Park. The club recommends that all supporters use either of these car parks to avoid disruption to local residents and businesses. Directions to the car parks can be found by CLICKING HERE.
