Rugby News HARLEQUINS 6 SAINTS 13 Fotuali'i enjoys the win, if not the weather
Kahn Fotuali'i says that he enjoyed his first start in Saints colours, even if he won't be wanting to repeat the Twickenham weather any time soon!
The Samoan international scrum-half came off the bench against Exeter, and played the first hour against Harlequins. And while he didn't get on the score sheet, Fotuali'i made one dancing break in the first half, and directed the forwards into another dominant performance.
Fotuali'i also made a point of thanking the travelling supporters who made their presence felt in the Stoop stands.
"I didn't enjoy the weather, but enjoyed being out there for my first start," he told SaintsTV. "Thanks to the fans who turned up here; it was pretty amazing. Last week experiencing the home fans was amazing, too, especially as a new player.
"We can't control the weather; all we can do is adapt to it and stick to our guns, getting the forwards going and playing into the corners if we have to.
"We said before that defence was going to win the game, especially in these conditions and against a quality side like Harlequins, who are top four contenders.
"I'm still learning how we play as a team. It is a team sport and we've got to stick to our strengths. And every week you learn and learn and learn and I'm looking forward to our next game."
Saints stay on the road next week, heading to Kingsholm for their Aviva Premiership Round 3 game against Gloucester. But on September 27th they return home to host Sale Sharks under the Franklin's Gardens Friday night lights.
