Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi helped Coventry return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon.

The Junior World Championship winner was in the starting line-up as Coventry hosted Old Albanians at the Butts Park Arena.

The home pack dominated in the scrum, but despite Coventry going ahead with just five minutes on the clock the visitors stayed in the contest for the first hour. Nevertheless Cov kept their nerve, with a pair of penalties in the final minutes sealing a 24-10 win.

There was no such luck for the six Saints who turned out for Moseley in their British and Irish Cup opener at Cross Keys. Two more JWC winners, Will Hooley and Alex Day, started at half-back, with prop Adam Parkins also starting the game. Three more forwards also saw action off the bench, hooker Matt Williams and props Tom Warren and Danny Herriott.

The Welsh hosts were beaten finalists in the competition just two years ago, but Moseley took the game to them from the off.

However they didn't get the points their dominance deserved, and when Cross Keys hit back with two tries it gave them a 14-3 lead against the run of play. Two penalties before half-time gave the hosts a 20-3 advantage, but after the break all the scoring came from Moseley.

Hooley added a penalty to his first half effort, and Moseley scored two tries, but it was too little, too late, as Cross Keys hung on for a 20-16 win.
