Community News Brighten a child’s Christmas with The Big Toy Collection 2013!

November continues to be a big charity month for Northampton Saints, and with Travis Perkins the club is now aiming to brighten the lives of children in care and in need this Christmas.

Already thousands of pounds has been raised for Movember and the Royal British Legion, and now the club and its main sponsor Travis Perkins are asking supporters to help change the Christmases of thousands of children in care or in need in Northamptonshire.

The Big Christmas Toy Collection is an appeal for supporters to donate a toy, book or game up to the value of no more than £10 for children and young people aged between 0 and 18.

The Collection will take place at the Aviva Premiership home match against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, November 23rd, when a Travis Perkins pink truck will be parked in the Village area behind the Burrda Sport Stand. Everything donated will then be distributed during the run-up to Christmas.

“Christmas is a fantastic time for many families, but there are thousands of children in the county who will not have as good a time and through The Big Toy Collection we’re looking to make as much of a difference as we can,” said Saints chief executive Allan Robson.

“Like ourselves, Travis Perkins have strong links to the local community, and it makes sense for us to partner up on this project. Our supporters have been very generous already this month, and hopefully as many of them as possible will help make a difference to other families in the area.”

Carol Kavanagh, Group HR Director, Travis Perkins plc, added: “Our support of children and young people in need in Northamptonshire goes back many years.

“This year we're pleased to join forces with Northampton Saints in a combined effort that will see our employees, customers and Saints fans helping more than 4,000 local children and young people share in the joy of Christmas.”

Gifts should be brand new and unwrapped, although they should be brought in a plastic bag to protect them from the elements!

Although The Big Toy Collection is being held at the game against Newcastle, you don’t have to be at the match to help. Simply leave your donation at the main reception at Franklin’s Gardens during opening hours in the week before the game, and your toy, book or game will be included in the Collection!
