Club News Ella delighted with opening Supporters Liaison Group meeting
Ella Bevan says that the first meeting of the Saints Supporters Liaison Group was a positive experience that provided a foundation for successful engagement between Northampton Saints and its supporters.
The Supporters Liaison Group (SSLG) met for the first time last Monday, with representatives from the Saints management, ComeOnYouSaints.com, the Saints Supporters Club, and the Season Ticket Holder base discussing a wide range of issues, from the consistency of stewarding to how best to encourage more supporters to travel to away matches.
And Mrs Bevan says that it was pleasing to know that everyone is working in the same direction.
"I was really happy with how it went," she said. "Everyone is going forwards to the same goal, and it was all really positive. It wasn't us against them; it was us, the club, working with the supporters to make the club great, and for the supporters to be happy and to keep coming!"
The SSLG fills in the gap between the broad picture Season Ticket Holder Forums and the day-to-day queries that come into the club. Mrs Bevan said that all three levels of engagement were essential in maintaining a constructive relationship between the club and its supporters, adding: "Over the past year we've got ourselves back on track.
"We had a period where we went a bit off the rails, but Leon pulled that back with the first Season Ticket Holders' Forum and we've kept it on the right road.
"The fans have always been important to the Saints, and so we want them to feel a part of the club, want them to feel some ownership of the club, and we want them to feel respected.
"It's really important that all our supporters are represented on this group because we're about promoting a club which has access to all. We need to make sure we get everyone's opinion.
"If the SSLG helps that engagement then it'll be brilliant."
