Community News Hundreds of students celebrate with Study Centre
The Saints Study Centre rounded off an excellent term’s work with local schools at the December presentation evening this week.
Hundreds of youngsters and their parents flocked to the Rodber Suite, with the students receiving a certificate, a medal and a t-shirt from Saints first teamers Ben Foden, Lee Dickson, and Alex and Ethan Waller. But while the players were all too happy to pose for photos and sign autographs it was Bernie who was a main attraction, too!
Students attending last night’s presentation had either completed the Playing For Success or transition programmes, and came from Woodvale Primary, Kingsley Primary, Abbey Primary, Lyncrest Primary, Barby Church of England Primary, Lings Primary and Lumbertubs Primary schools (all Playing for Success) and Thomas Becket Catholic School (transition).
Study Centre manager Pete Austen says that this term’s programmes have been bigger and better than ever.
“Every year we think that the programmes and the positivity shown by schools, students and parents cannot get any better, but every year is better than the one before,” he said. “It was a brilliant evening. The students got to show off some of the skills they’d learned over the term, and the parents were able to see first hand what the Study Centre is all about.
“We’ve had a really busy year, but we’re also looking forward to 2014 and some more exciting projects that we’ve got in the pipeline!”
Northampton Saints offers a wide range of programmes designed to support education in primary and secondary schools, whether based in the Saints Study Centre at Franklin’s Gardens or on site within the schools themselves.
