Rugby News OSPREYS 17 SAINTS 29 North: We've got nothing to lose

George North says that Saints will continue to go all out in the Heineken Cup in next Friday's home game against Castres.

For the second week running the winger scored a crucial try soon after the break to put Saints on the front foot.

But while last week showed his power from close range, this score at the Liberty Stadium showcased North's elusiveness and outright pace as he left two Ospreys in his wake on an 80-metre run up the left wing.

That try put Saints 17-3 up, and while the Ospreys kept fighting back to twice put themselves within a converted try of the visitors, further scores from George Pisi and Glenn Dickson - the Kiwi's first for the first team - added to four Stephen Myler penalties to send their team back across the Severn with a win.

Nevertheless it will be North who will be the focus of Monday's headlines for his second half special that helped earn him the Heineken man of the match award.

"I'm happy to get the try and to get a few of them under my belt now," North told SaintsTV. "It sparked our second half and from my point of view it was good to get over the try line again.

"The first half was frustrating. We went out to play at our tempo and to be fair to the Ospreys they negated that. But once the second half came on we had a bit of life put in us and we got the tries we needed.

"We've got nothing to lose now and it's win or bust. We'll look to go out strong next week on Friday night and look to take it to them."

Although the Saints need results to go their way elsewhere to qualify for the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup, a place in the Amlin Challenge Cup knockout stages is still very much within their hands.
