Academy News Saints trio in for England Under-20 at the Gardens
Howard Packman will make his first start for England Under-20 when they take on Ireland at Franklin’s Gardens this Saturday evening, the Saints wing one of three who will step out on home soil for the Six Nations tie.
Packman, who scored twice for the Saints Under-18s as they captured the Academies League title on Monday, is in the squad above age group and came on as a replacement in each of England Under-20’s first two fixtures.
The 18-year-old is joined in the 23 by Saints teammates Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi and Sam Olver.
It is a must-win game for Nick Walshe’s side, the reigning Junior World Champions and Six Nations holders having lost one of their two and chasing down unbeaten France and Wales at the head of the table.
“The guys have trained well this week and heading back to Franklin’s Gardens is always special," head coach Walshe commented. "It’s a proper rugby venue, we had a good win against Italy there last season and we’ll be looking to go out there and play as well as we can in front of a good home crowd.”
And you can enjoy seeing the future of England Rugby at your home ground from as little as £5! What’s more, we’ll have England v Ireland live from Twickenham on screens around the ground beforehand (KO 4pm), making it a double day of international rugby at the Gardens!
