Rugby News Myler: Gloucester clash not about revenge
While an only Aviva Premiership defeat of 2013/14 so far ‘ended on a sour note’, Stephen Myler says that the Saints’ focus isn’t on revenge when Gloucester come to town on Saturday for a re-match.
Late drama and controversy denied the Saints at Kingsholm in Round 3 but they have not lost domestically since and their current winning run stands at 11 games.
Myler insists extending a stretch that goes back to mid-December is the main focus at the Gardens, rather than emotion over their last meeting with the Cherry and Whites.
“It’s a long time ago now,” Myler told SaintsTV. “We are where we are through our performances and the main thing is not to think of it as a revenge mission, but to try and kick on and put ourselves in a good position when the playoffs come around.
“Gloucester have had an upturn in form recently and having beaten Quins last week they’ll have their tails up. We know it’s going to be a big challenge for us and we’ll need to be on our money to come away with a win.”
