Rugby News Day looking forward to another big Saracens clash
Christian Day says that Saturday’s game against Saracens will be a tough ask against a quality opposition.
The Saints are one of only two teams to be unbeaten in the 2013/14 LV= Cup and lead the Aviva Premiership after 16 rounds. But Saracens have also been one of the country’s form teams, and as well as lying second in the league they have earned a place in the Heineken Cup quarter finals.
Between them, the Saints and Saracens have scored well over 100 tries in all competitions so far this season. However they also boast two of the top defences, too, and Day says that the team will need to take the visitors seriously.
“I’m looking forward to a game against a quality opposition in Saracens and one game away from a final as well,” Day told SaintsTV. “Saracens are a very good rugby team and they’ve got a number of guys who can do a job for them. They rotate their squad and there’s no loss in skill level or form.
“Whoever they send it will be a tough ask. We might have won the last two or three against them, but we know that doesn’t make any difference this weekend and we’ll need to take them very seriously.
“Any time we play at home is important. We’ve taken the LV= Cup seriously this year and it’s been pleasing that the young guys have stood up and been counted.
“We train with them all week and know what they can do, and the Saints have got some exciting young players coming through, and it’s good to see them excited about the prospect of playing in front of a big crowd at Franklin’s Gardens this weekend.”
