Academy News Youngsters complete winning weekend for England Saints
Five Saints featured for England as they saw off Wales at Twickenham on Sunday and with a further quintet from the Gardens Academy on Under-20 or Under-18 duty, the number to taste weekend victory in white was doubled.
First up, Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi, Howard Packman and Sam Olver all played their part in England Under-20’s thumping 67-7 win over Wales on Friday evening.
Nick Walshe’s side scored 10 times at Kingston Park and while they’ll need Grand Slam chasing France to slip up at home to Ireland in Round 5, their comprehensive points difference advantage means victory in Italy would see them crowned champions if the Irish do them a favour.
Sunday lunchtime meanwhile, a trio of the Saints’ Academies League winning backs were in action as England Under-18 won 28-6 in Scotland. Rotimi Segun scored one of the Red Rose’s tries, while Harry Mallinder also kicked eight points as the duo bested Under-18 clubmate Rory Hutchinson in Dalziel.
