Academy News Winning weekend for Saints youngsters
The Saints Under-17s got a first win of 2014 under their belts on Sunday, while two of the club's youngsters helped England Under-18 to a comprehensive win over Wales.
The Under-17s headed to Carrington to play Sale Sharks, and while the first team may have been frustrated on Saturday afternoon there was no similar emotion the following day as the travellers scored seven tries to Sale’s three in a 43-19 victory.
While prop Jake Byrne got on the score sheet the remaining half-dozen were shared among the backs, centres George Furbank and Paddy McDuell, wingers Cameron Ives, Cameron Clarke and Peter Kiendo and scrum-half Murray Aitchinson all crossing the whitewash.
McDuell added two conversions, with replacement James Grayson also slotting two successful kicks from the tee.
The Saints Under-17s have a number of upcoming fixtures, against London Wasps (Harrow School; Sat, Mar 29th), Gloucester (Hartpury College; Tues, Apr 8th), and Saracens (Franklin's Gardens; Fri, Apr 11th; KO 1pm).
While the Saints were winning in the north-west, in south Wales two Junior Saints were helping England Under-18 to a six-try, 43-12 win over Wales in Neath.
