Academy News Impressive weekend from Saints youngsters
It was a good weekend all round for the Saints Academy, the Under-17s remaining unbeaten with a 31-22 victory over Wasps and a trio of Academies League champions helping England Under-18 edge out France on Saturday.
At Harrow School, members of the Saints’ Academies League winning side were also in form back at Under-17 level, four of their five tries coming from players involved in the final win over Exeter last month.
Having each scored in that final, flanker George Cox and centre George Furbank were both on the scoresheet again – Cox making his a double – while prop Luc Jeannot was the man to open the scoring for the visitors.
Philip Ackuaka added number five and with Robbie Povey and James Grayson knocking over three conversions between them, the final margin was a comfortable one against tough opposition.
Later that evening, three more Saints were in action in the white of England and Lewis Ludlam’s all-action performance was rewarded with the man of the match gong in an 18-17 win at Stadium du Littoral de Grade Synthe.
The St Joseph's College flanker started alongside Josh Peters (Oundle School) and George Wacokecoke (also St Jo's) in Dunkirk.
